Transform the Inner Critic That Keeps You Stuck

Transforming the Inner Critic That Keeps You STuck

TRANSFORM THE INNER CRITIC THAT KEEPS YOU STUCK

In my last post, I talked about common types of resistances that can come up when we set goals and that can really stop us in our tracks.  One of these that I mentioned was a belief about some shortcoming we believe we have that would hinder us from reaching our goal.  It could be things like—I don’t have enough training, I don’t have enough degrees, I’m not smart enough, I don’t have what it takes, or I’m not good enough. The big theme is usually something around I’M NOT ENOUGH.  Some of these seem very practical (I don’t have training) and some them
are really, really painful.

What I want to do today is show you how to use the tool of Tapping or Emotional Freedom Techniques to work with these beliefs and feelings that get in our way.  If you’re not familiar with Tapping, it’s a mind body tool that calms the stress response in the body, giving us more access to our full brain and inner resources.

In this video, the way we are going to work with the belief that we have a shortcoming , which is usual some form of an inner critic, which, for many people, when we really get into that voice and that part of us, it can sound really, really harsh and really dark.  I’ve worked with probably hundreds of clients on their inner critic and done a lot of work on my own.  And I’ve seen how harsh they can sound and how painful that can be.  And I’m not going to sugar coat it in this tapping.  I really like to go in and voice the worst of the worst and even exaggerate it, make it sound as bad as possible.  Because doing that really can help it shift.   And it’s going to sound awful.  And it can be disturbing to hear your darkest inner voice spoken out loud. And if you work on positive thinking and staying positive, it can be really disturbing.  But if you’re voicing the negative, which is very likely inside of you, while you tap, it’s not going to hurt you but it’s actually going to bring the intensity of that voice down.  And then, once the negative starts to come down, you can add in some more positive, affirming statements, and tapping can supercharge your affirmations.

Now,  tapping is a great tool you can use on your own and I encourage my clients to do so.  And I do it on my own all the time.  What I go into in this video is intense stuff.  So if you need support
with it, talk to somebody about it.  You can to reach out to me—this is what I really specialize in helping people with--  or reach out to  someone in your life that your trust.  And if you’re super vulnerable, you may not want to do it.  And that’s ok.  I really want you to  take responsibility for yourself and your own well being.

So watch the video and tap along.  You may need to do the tapping multiple times before you start to feel a shift.  But this exercise is truly life changing, so I hope you’ll give it a go!  And if you’re interesting in doing some one on one work around it, this is the exact thing I focus on in my coaching
business.  Helping you shift your resistance to your goals at a deep level so you can get  true transformational and  so your goals become achievable.  I would be happy to set up a free
consultation with you to talk more about it.
